Member Spotlight
John May
Keller Williams Realty
When it comes to the real estate business, John May isn’t into this “big group or big team approach,” as he calls it. “My approach is to handle each of my transactions personally,” he explained. “If I help you with your home purchase or sale, you will work with me every step of the way. It’s the personal touch that I think is important, not handing off various duties to other team members who may not have the same feel for a property as I do.”

John’s philosophy evidently works for him. He’s been a realtor for 5 years, and has been a Keller Williams Bronze award winner for the past three. The company gives this award annually to realtors that produce large numbers of home sales each year. John has been a multi-million dollar producer all five years.

When working with clients, John stated that people don’t realize that he can show them homes that are listed with any broker. “My goal for buyers,” he explained, “is to find my customers the perfect house not just to find them a Keller Williams listing.”

Even so, John informed us that Keller Williams handles 40% of the total real estate business in Austin, and his office is currently the largest producing real estate office for all of North America! His company also believes in helping out the community. Each October, Keller William agents participate in a citywide food drive benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank, and John participates each year by recruiting neighbors to fill grocery bags with food, picking them up and distributing them.

As one of the founding members of the Chamber, John is also involved with our activities as well. He is on the Board of Directors, and is the current Chairman for the networking committee, which produces our monthly Tuesday night get togethers, Network Nites, held at the Iron Cactus.

Whether sharing a drink and hors d’ouevres with you during Network Nites, or advising you about real estate needs, John is a great person to talk to.

John specializes in residential real estate throughout the greater Austin area, and represents both buyers and sellers. You can contact John at:

Chair's Corner
G. Steven Bray
Chair-Elect
The Chamber recognizes that you expect value from your Chamber membership, so over the next few months, I will dedicate this corner to describing the opportunities you have as a Chamber member to generate exposure for your business. This month, I'm going to highlight sponsorship. Sponsoring a Chamber event is inexpensive and gives you great exposure to Chamber members and guests.

Network Nites

The Chamber hosts Network Nites the 2nd Tuesday of every month. As a sponsor of Network Nites, you command the spotlight. Every eye is on you as you take a few minutes to present your business and hand out marketing materials. It's a great chance to sell your business to a captive audience.

The cost of sponsorship is $50 plus two door prizes that you award at the event. The value of the prizes must be at least $25 each.

If you're interested, contact John May, our Networking Chair. (John also is our Member Spotlight winner this month.)

Luncheon

While we don't have luncheon sponsors, you still have the opportunity to shine the spotlight on your business. What better way to promote your business than to offer a gift certificate for your products or services. There are no restrictions on the value of the certificate, and your generosity will be announced at the luncheon prior to giving away your prize.

If you're interested in offering a door prize
at the May luncheon, drop me a note at
