The housing market is such a barometer for what happens in our local economy. Regardless of your business, that's why it's important to know the state of the housing market and where it's heading.

Our November speaker is Socar Chatmon-Thomas, Chairperson of the Austin Board of Realtors. She will update us on the current state of the real estate market and gaze into her crystal ball on the future.

We hope you enjoyed our new Member Benefits Newsletter last month. If you missed it, the email newsletter highlights special offerings for Chamber members. If you have an offer - something of value you want to offer your fellow Chamber members, get in touch with Claudia (cjm@pictureperfectvacations.com) quickly so we can include it in this newsletter.

Our Member Benefits Committee also has created a Members Only section on our Web site. In addition to special member benefits, the section highlights member news. I hope you get a chance to check it out.

We've Changed

First, I want to remind you that we're moving to a one-meeting-a-month format. We will alternate between events. In odd months (like September) we will host our Networking Luncheon at Balcones Country Club.
In even months (like October) we will host Network Nites at Baby Acapulcos.

The primary motivation for this change is to increase networking opportunities. The Board feels that by focusing on one networking meeting each month we can significantly increase turn-out, which increases your chances for business success.

Welcome!

  LSL Golf (Lone Star Leaderboards)

How long have you been in business?
3 years.

 W
hat exactly do you do?
We have two different aspects to our business. One, we offer golf courses various high quality amenities, including "in cart" GPS, Scoreboards, Golf Mats, and other various on course products. And two, we offer businesses the ability to advertise to the Golfer Demographic. We do that by elegantly aligning business advertising to the affluent golfer on the golf course, providing businesses a more targeted qualified lead for their advertising budget. We display business ads on GPS and other products installed on golf courses in a relaxed, uncluttered, environment. In addition, we provide call-to-action marketing programs to enhance this target marketing campaign for the business.

With our exclusive contract with GPS and Golf Mats we have access to golf course ad inventory locally, regionally, and throughout the country, along with a network of distributors located in 23 states touching over 3.5 million golfers.

Does your business offer any unique products or services?
We have a very unique product incorporated with most of our campaigns which is a "customer appreciation card" providing free golf as a give away for businesses  participating with our golf ads.

How long have you been in Austin?
This is my second time living in Austin, totaling 11 years. I've also lived in Michigan, Houston, and Chicago.

What do others NOT know about you and/ or your business that you would like to share?
I am a vet of the US Air Force and was stationed at Bergstrom AFB, before it became an airport. My business partner is also a US Air Force vet.

Have you or your business received any awards, certifications, or special accomplishments?
We are a proud sponsor of the South Texas PGA, were founding members of the National Golf Course Advertising Association, and sponsored a "Million dollar Hole-in-One event" to raise money for the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington DC. We are also an active member of the Greater Houston Partnership and are a sponsor of the Houston Media Classic tournament at Cypresswood GC in Houston.

Of course, we love to golf!

Do you have a website?

If you could give advice to those just starting out in their careers, what would you say?
Don't prioritize career over family. Be passionate, have fun, and at the end of the day, honesty and integrity are the only things that count.

What is the best advice you've ever received?
Don't take yourself too seriously...and don't be a legend in your own mind!

If you didn't have this job, what would you be doing instead?
Technology...but still playing golf.

Anything else you'd like to add?
I love traveling and seeing our wonderful country, exercise, and quiet times.
